What we measure and how

Scans subtitle text for forbidden extended characters: smart quotes (U+2018-U+201D), em / en dashes (U+2013, U+2014), and accented / non-Latin glyphs where the spec disallows them. Catches characters that pass through some authoring tools but fail downstream renderers.
