GOP structure

GOP structure / I-frame interval

What we measure and how

GOP (Group-of-Pictures) structure measures the encoder's I-frame placement strategy — fixed-interval keyframes vs scene-cut adaptive — which determines random-access granularity and codec efficiency. The check reads packet-level keyframe positions from the primary video stream, computes the distribution of GOP lengths, and matches against the spec's required I-frame interval (e.g. closed GOP of 1 for all-Intra ProRes; open GOP of 12 or 24 for delivery H.264).
