Method
Audio quasi peak
Quasi-peak programme metre (PPM), IEC 60268-10
What we measure and how
Peak Programme Metre (PPM) level reflects how the loudest moments would register on a broadcast meter with regulated attack and decay ballistics — the limit transmission engineers and editors have historically tracked, distinct from the sample-accurate True Peak in BS.1770. Measured per IEC 60268-10 Type IIa (EBU Tech 3205): a peak-following detector with a 5 ms integration time and a 1.7 s decay, scanned across the programme with the maximum window value reported in dBFS.
