Audio dual mono

Dual-mono detection per stereo track

What we measure and how

Dual-mono detection identifies stereo audio that is in fact two identical copies of the same mono signal (L = R within tolerance) — a common consequence of a mistaken downmix during conform, or a mono fold of a stereo mix that wasn't intended for delivery. Measured per audio track as the fraction of frames where the inter-channel difference falls below threshold. A track flagged as dual-mono will not benefit from stereo playback and may indicate broken metadata or a routing error upstream.
